An award for the best master’s thesis on the topic of academic espionage

Today we’re sharing a post on a slightly different—but no less exciting—topic. Quite the opposite! Academic espionage is currently the forgotten sibling of industrial espionage, even though it’s highly relevant to far more institutions and companies than you might think at first glance. Did you know, for example, that most research organizations in Europe have already fallen victim to academic espionage?

Daniela Kirchmeir, Training Manager at CALPANA business consulting GmbH and responsible for setting up the CRISAM® Academy, won the award for the best master’s thesis with her thesis on academic espionage in China at the “European Students Research Conference – for Risk, Safety and Security 2023″, with participating universities from 13 countries.

As part of her degree program “Integrated Risk Management” at FH Campus Wien, Daniela spent months taking an in-depth look at the fascinating topic of academic espionage—and was rewarded with this distinction at the European Students Research Conference.
