…and that’s full throttle! Why? More on this later.
This year’s company outing was planned under the motto “Plans are for beginners”. We thought that our good karma for organising this important team event had deserted us, but then it finally started last week and at full throttle.
At CALPANA, we are focussing intensively on our corporate values this year. The first value we look at more closely in this exciting process is the value “Open communication” and in the spirit of this open communication, we would also like to report at this point that unfortunately not everything went smoothly this year with regard to our company outing plans. Unfortunately, that’s life sometimes, but instead of getting down in the dumps, we made the best of it as always and after we were unable to organise a company outing as planned, we were finally able to step on the gas at the end of September and all had a lot of fun driving go-karts together.
Before we tell you why the 2022 company outing was a success after all, let’s take a brief look back at the summer of 2022.
After the coronavirus-related break in the organisation of our annual company outing, the plans for summer 2022 were very special. We planned a trip to Hamburg for the whole team! The excitement and anticipation was great. Everything was perfectly organised – flight, accommodation, visit to the Hamburg branch, boat trip in Hamburg harbour, beer tasting in the Hamburg Elbphilarmonie and, to top it all off, a 3-course meal in the Störtebeker restaurant in the “Elphie”. The colleagues’ suitcases were packed, the sedatives for the flight taken and then, on the evening before the trip, the flights from Linz were cancelled.
A few hours before departure, the airline put a spanner in the works and there was no alternative to be organised in the short time available. As a result, more than half of the colleagues were unable to travel.
Nine colleagues were already in Hamburg due to a customer event the day before and after the shock had been digested, the best was made of it and the planned programme was carried out. It felt strange, but as a cancellation was no longer possible, the small group followed in Störtebeker’s footsteps and explored the harbour and the Elbphilharmonie. The colleagues who couldn’t be there were of course always there in spirit!
The next attempt was planned for the autumn: A company outing in Austria. Unfortunately, the idea of driving mountain go-karts in Schladming was thwarted by the weather gods, but we were able to organise a relatively spontaneous team breakfast in our Linz office and go-karting in Leonding. Together with colleagues from Hamburg and Vienna, the day was a complete success. We had a lot of fun driving go-karts and getting to know each other and exchanging ideas. Apart from a few bruises, everything went smoothly and it was a great shared experience.
Shared experiences bring people closer together and are all the more valuable in times when a lot of work is done remotely or at different locations. Nothing can replace a personal exchange at the coffee machine, at an event or over a meal together.
We are therefore all looking forward to our Christmas party at the end of November and to another successful company outing next year!
